| Synoptic Situation | Under the influence of the upper air cyclonic circulation over Northwest Bay of Bengal, a low pressure area has formed over Northwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining West Bengal-North Odisha coasts at 0530 hrs IST of today, the 16th August 2026 and persisted over the same region at 0830 hrs IST of today. The associated cyclonic circulation extends upto 7.6 km above mean sea level tilting southwestwards with height. It is very likely to move Northwestwards and become more marked during next 24 hours. Southwest Monsoon Moderate to Strong over North Bay & Central Bay of Bengal; Moderate over South Bay of Bengal and Andaman Sea. |
