A Meteorological Observatory in Shillong was established on November 1, 1956 in Upper Shillong area in Central Seismological Observatory Campus. Later on, Meteorological Observatory is upgraded to Meteorological Centre Shillong to cater the weather specific needs of Meghalaya State. Various weather related services are operational at MC Shillong since May 2018.
