IMD is celebrating an extraordinary milestone of completion of 150 years of its glorious weather and climate services to the nation during 2024-2025. To commemorate this momentous occasion in a befitting manner, a series of activities have been planned starting from 15th January 2024 with curtain raiser event and culminating on 15th January 2025, 151st Foundation Day. Now as a part of the 151st foundation day celebration, a national level stakeholders meet is being organized in New Delhi on 14.01.2025 on “Weather and Climate Services for the Various User Sectors”.

IMD has been generating sector specific weather and climate information to support developing adaptation strategies at local level integrated in to the developmental planning process in the country for sustainable future in collaboration with various institutes, government agencies, Universities, and user community. The proposed stakeholder’s meet will showcase the importance of the IMD’s weather and climate information and services in various weather/climate sensitive user sectors in the country and will help in identifying the gap areas in the services and plan for the future.

Various stake holders like state and local government officials, sector representatives from climate sensitive sectors like agriculture, water, energy and health, media, NGOs etc. at state, national and international levels are invited for the panel discussion and interactive sessions. This workshop will come up with recommendations that will help in expanding and improving IMD’s services so as to satisfy the stakeholder’s requirements.
