To comemorate the 150 years service of IMD to the nation, a stake-holders meeting-cum-workshop took place at the Ambedkar’s auditorium, Kyd Street, Kolkata on 29th November 2024. This program had two parts, viz., pre-lunch technical session and post lunch valedictory session along with felicitation of the retired IMD employees.Prelunch session was inaugurated by the welcome address from the Head, RMC, Kolkata and inaugural address by the DGM IMD and the post lunch valeditory program was graced by the auspicious presence of Sri. Dusmanta Nariala, IAS, Addl Chief Secretary of the Govt of West Bengal, Dr. M.Ravichandran, Secretary MoES Govt of India, Dr(Mrs) Santa Dutta (De), Vice Chancellor University of Calcutta, Dr Joyesh Bagchi, Addl Director General, Geological Survey of India, Dr. M.Mohapatra, DGM, IMD. Detail program is given in the enclosure-I.In the pre-lunch session there was technical program which consists of two parts, viz., presentation by RMC Kolkata Scientists showing the weather services rendered by IMD for the different stake holders in the West Bengal State and Stakeholders presentation on their feedback to the IMD’s service. Consolidated feedback from the stakeholders is given in the enclosure-II. DGM discussed the feedback in details and advised RMC Kolkata to do the needful within the frame work of the scopes of improvement. Technical session was concluded with vote of thanks proposed by Dr Sourish Bandyopadhyay.Besides, in the post lunch session, officials retired from RMC Kolkata office were also fecitated jointly by the DGM and Head RMC Kolkata. In the Post lunch session vote of thanks was proposed by Dr H.R.Biswas.The program was ended with a small cultural program performed by RMC Kolkata officials.
