About the Speaker:

Prof Uma Kumar entered medical school , MLN Medical College inAllahabad (now Prayagraj) in 1985. After doing MBBS andMD joined AIIMS, Delhi in 1996 as a senior resident doctor andbecame faculty in 2001 in the department of Medicine. She pioneeredthe concept of Day Care in Rheumatology in India in 2012. Prof Umacreated the Rheumatology Department at AIIMS, New Delhi in 2015.She has published more than 200 research papers & book chaptersin various national and international journals. She has Supervisedmore than 50 MD, DM and PhD students. She has Completed morethan 70 research projects , currently working towards air pollutionand autoimmunity and also trying to generate good quality evidenceon role of Indian Knowledge System in health. She is recipient ofNational award for outstanding efforts in science and technologycommunication in the electronic medium by the Department ofScience & Technology, GOI (2019). She is recognized as an eminentIndian Women Scientist in the field of medical sciences for takinginitiatives of scientific excellence and contribution to science policy,particularly gender equity in STI and science communication in areport prepared by UNESCO ‘A Braided River: The Universe ofIndian Women in Science ‘ (2022).
