About the Speaker:

Prof. Uma Charan Mohanty after working for more than 33 years at IIT Delhi in various capacities, from Lecturer to Head and Professor, served in IIT Bhubaneswar for 9 years as a Visiting Professor in the School of Earth, Ocean and Climate Sciences. Currently he is serving as Distinguished Professor in the Centre for Climate Smart Agriculture(CCSA) of Siksha ‘O’ Anusandhan (SoA) Deemedto beUniversity, Bhubaneswar. Prof. Mohanty is recognised for his deep understanding of fundamental atmospheric science, observational studies, and numerical modelling. He has been conferred with many awards and recognitions such as the prestigious Santi Swarup Bhatnagar prize, National Award in Atmospheric Sciences and Technology, Biju Patnaik Award for Scientific Excellence, Sir Gilbert Walker Gold Medal and many more. He is also fellow of Indian Meteorological Society (IMS) and Indian Geophysical Union (IGU).
