DGM, India Meteorological Department, highlighted the IMD's ongoing efforts in improving Early Warning for All (EW4All). Dr. M. Ravichandran, Secretary Ministry of Earth Sciences Government of India, underscored advances in technology to enhance early warning. Mr. Safi Ahsan Rizvi, Advisor, National Disaster Management Authority, India, stressed on importance of timely and accurate early warnings in disaster prevention and the role of early warning in disaster risk reduction, role of collaborations, coordination, and outreach.

Aerosol LIDAR system, developed by IRDE (DRDO) was handed over to India Meteorological Department (IMD), Ministry of Earth Sciences (MoES) on 12th Mar 2025. Dr. B.K. Das,DG, ECS and Dr. Mrutyunjay Mohapatra, DGM, IMD signed the handing over document on behalf of the two organizations. DG (TM) and Director, IRDE, DRDO were also present along with senior officers from IMD, MoES and IRDE, DRDO during this signing ceremony. These LIDARs will help in weather monitoring, forecasting, atmospheric research, climate studies and air quality monitoring. First LIDAR is being installed at IMD observatory, Ranichauri (Uttarakhand).

Mr K Nalini Mohan, Scientist G, IMD received an Award from Indian Army for remarkable meteorological service to Indian Army in the North East States of India.

Prof Petteri Taalas, Director General, Finnish Meteorological Institute, delivered a talk on “Activities of the Finnish Meteorological Institute and the status of global climate”
