Dr. M. Mohapatra, Director General, IMD, welcomed the delegation. Discussions focused on strengthening cooperation in disaster preparedness, weather and climate services.

A delegation led by H.E. Mr. Oleg Korobchenko, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Industry and Trade of the Republic of Tatarstan, Russian Federation, visited the India Meteorological Department (IMD) on 10 Sep 2026.

Philip Cooper Evans, DG EUMETSAT, along with the EUMETSAT delegation comprising Anne Doris Taube, Bojan Rumen Bojkov, Sean Dominic Burns, and Paul Albert G Counet, visited the Ministry of Earth Sciences (MoES) and the India Meteorological Department (IMD) today, the 02 nd September 2026.

Director General of EUMETSAT appreciated the range of services delivered by IMD, with a focus on the protection and support of Indian and regional society, individuals, and industry. He appreciated the user- and application-focused approach across the range of services, providing valuable, accessible, and inclusive services, and the enthusiasm, expertise, and dedication of the officers and staff of IMD who led these developments.

Dr. T. Srinivasa Kumar, Secretary, MoES, and Dr. Mrutyunjay Mohapatra, DG, IMD, along with senior officers and Scientists of MoES, IMD, and NCMRWF, held deliberations with the EUMETSAT delegation to strengthen space-based weather monitoring and forecasting through collaborative research and development of applications and services.
